NEST RACING_INDOOR TRAINING TABLE
Overview
Nest Racing was a startup based in South Africa. After Covid subsided, there was a large increase in the number of people utilizing home training systems.
We worked closely with the customer to develop a unique indoor trainer that was both visually striking and cost-effective for Covid-pockets.
The project included logo, packaging, and signage concepts, as well as product development, prototyping, manufacturing, and user testing.
Approach
Design Direction
The goal was to create a trainer that felt bold and distinctive while remaining simple enough to manufacture within the constraints of an early-stage startup.
Manufacturing Strategy
With limited production budgets, the first batch was designed around accessible manufacturing processes such as vacuum forming and locally fabricated metal components.
Mechanical Solution
Without the option of injection-molded parts, sliding mechanisms were developed using stock or CNC-milled components.
